NEW ONLINE AUCTION SOFTWARE PLATFORM
We have changed our online auction software platform. We were forced to make this change, but since our existing software was so old, it could not be modernized to today’s eCommerce world. So it was inevitable that we would need to change at some point.
We hope that you will like the new look of our auctions and modern bidding interface.
A couple of changes that we are not thrilled with, but we will all get used to:
1. The new system does not use Bidder Numbers. So the bidder number that some of you have used for years, and that we have gotten to know a lot of your with, will no longer be used. Instead, you Register in this new system and create a User Name and Password. You can use your name as your User Name or use something more creative - it’s up to you.
In our past auctions, you could see the bidder numbers that were placing bids and could see who was winning a bid or who you were bidding against. In this new system, you will not.
2. In our old system, you could place a “current bid” in any amount and then could either choose to place a maximum bid or not. With this new system, “your current bid” is no longer available. You can either click “Quick Bid” which shows the next bidding increment and places your bid in that amount OR you can enter “Your Highest Bid.” Choosing “Your Highest Bid” increases your bid only to the next bidding increment (unless someone else has also entered a higher Highest Bid) and continues to raise it by only the specified bidding increments until it reaches your maximum.
The software does have some really good features. Any of you who participate in other online auctions (HiBid and others) have probably seen this more modern layout.
The auction will have a small green “Winning” box if you have the winning bid, and a small red “Losing” box if someone has outbid you.
So the first time you log into this new platform, you will need to Register and give all of your information. After that first time, you will simply “Login” with that same User Name and Password whenever you want to bid in one of our auctions.
Hopefully everything will work smoothly for you and us. Here is some info from our new software company’s FAQ’s: “We want your bidding and selling experience to go as smoothly as possible. We all know technology changes very rapidly. We find the most stable connection with Google Chrome. If you are having difficulties, first try clearing your browser history as this will solve most issues. If that doesn’t work, we recommend swapping browsers.”
